The Challenges with Stretched Internal IT Teams

You have already made the decision that you want to manage your own IT infrastructure, but you’re also challenged with some of the symptoms including:

  • Limited budgets constrain most roles to generalists
  • Apparent low maturity for process and systems
  • Business pain with reoccurring disruptions
  • Lack of planning and visibility, including risk

You need specialist capabilities that integrate with your existing team, not replace them.

We Complement Your Internal IT Capability
So You Can Focus On What Matters Most

Our Co‑Managed engagement model complements your internal IT team by allowing them to focus on strategic, value‑adding initiatives, while Lexel assumes responsibility for commodity services and specialist tasks. This model is underpinned by a clearly defined responsibility framework, ensuring transparent ownership of technologies and activities across your organisation and delivery partners.
Co‑Managed clients also benefit from Lexel’s advisory‑led best Practice frameworks, accelerating maturity uplift and the adoption of proven operational standards faster than would otherwise be possible.

Why Customers with Internal IT teams choose Lexel ?

Designed for Co-Manage, as opposed to pure play MSP.

Most MSP’s (Managed Service Providers) want exclusive access and management of a customer’s IT environment. They don’t want the customer hiring IT resource internally and they don’t want multiple IT partners involved. By contrast, Lexel recognises that this is a key segment of the market, especially mid-market, so we have a tailored engagement model to suit.

Broad & Deep Technical Expertise, at the Enterprise level.

Lexel has broad and deep technical expertise, built for its Enterprise customers. Our SMB Co Managed customers can also have access to this capability, as and when needed for projects. This is a key differentiator from the traditional MSP who may have good ‘manage’ teams, but are thin on the ground for professional services design and build capability.

Formerly Defined Responsibility Areas

As part of our Co-Managed engagement, we have a Responsibility Matrix framework which we work with the customer on. Not only does it clearly define what areas of the customers environment that Lexel will own, but also other partners and the customers internal team. This value-add process ensures all parties are clear on their responsibilities and importantly there are no gaps.

Advisory Frameworks.

As part of our Co-Managed engagement, we take on the role of advisory to customers, educating and nurturing them and their teams into best practice. To support this concept Lexel has developed a number or Maturity and Adoption frameworks which we share and co work upon with the customer. These include: AI Adoption, SharePoint Maturity, Security Posture, ITIL Service Management and more.

Start where you are, scale where you need to.

Your Questions, Answered

How can we clearly demark responsibility areas between the teams?

Lexel can support the process with its ‘Responsibility Matrix’ which clearly defines responsibility for the different tasks needed across all core IT infrastructure. It’s a key process to not only define responsibility across multiple parties (the customer, Lexel and others) but to also identify gaps with no current cover.

What is the difference between ‘Fully Managed for SMB’ and ‘Co Managed for SMB’?

Fully managed clients have Lexel taking default responsibility for all IT infrastructure. Those clients use Lexel for all services and need to align to the Lexel standards for technology and process. By contrast Co Managed clients take their own responsibility for their IT infrastructure, then define selective parts of that to have partners manage. Lexel has a specific engagement model for Co-Managed clients to ensure there is clarity on responsibility and that we provide advisory type advice to support the customer on best practice.

What does a typical Co Managed customer Insource v’s Partner on?

The best practice guideline is to insource any proprietary tasks which can add value to the customers business, then outsource any commodity services. Examples might be insourcing the management of key application support (unique to each customer), but outsourcing hardware and software patching (same for all customers and where Lexel has scale).

What Advisory Services can you offer to Co-Managed Clients?

Lexel has an established set of best practice Frameworks which we systematically roll through briefings upon with Co-Managed clients. These frameworks enable customers to achieve a higher level of maturity in terms of technology adoption or implementation. These include AI Apodtion, Security Posture, SharePoint Adoption, ITSM Service Management and more.

Let’s take the pressure off your IT team.
