| November 2018 | Microsoft 2018 NZ Partner Awards – WINNER | Microsoft New Zealand celebrated its outstanding local business partners at the 11th annual Microsoft Partner Awards.
Lexel was excited to win the Modern Work Place category and place highly commended in the Empowering Employees Award category.
The Microsoft New Zealand Partner Awards recognise innovative partners who are demonstrating inventive use of digital technology. The streamlined ceremony saw the awards pivot to a greater focus on customers.

| November 2018 | Lexel and Cylance host a cyber-security event

Lexel Systems and Cylance hosted a Cyber Security event at Auckland’s Tabac Bar in the CBD on the 15th November 2018.
Lexel’s David Brennan, based on his extensive overseas experience, provided a brief market overview and opinions on the current threat landscape facing New Zealand businesses.
Senior Security Technologist Richard Melick, delivered us a firsthand insight into how cyber crime is conducted today, how to combat the most damaging attack strategies, and how to prevent both known and unknown threats that haven’t been seen before. We invited our customers to participate in a live ransomware attack to find out how easy it is to obtain, weaponise and deliver malware, as well as to learn techniques that adversaries use to bypass existing security solutions.
Following Richard’s presentation, Cody Hill – Infrastructure Technical Specialist at Icebreaker (a global clothing brand based in Auckland) discussed the ‘Icebreaker Experience’ with Cylance and partnership with Lexel.
A great event enjoyed by all followed by drinks, canapés and networking.

Reseller News hosted its annual industry awards at the Cordis Hotel to celebrate and reward excellence across the Kiwi channel. With 500 attendees from channel partners and vendors present, Lexel was recognised with the sought after ‘Digital Transformation’ award for its work with My Food Bag. In addition, Lexel was nominated and shortlisted for the ‘Customer Value’ award for its work with Holmes Group. After accepting the award, Noel Simpson, Lexel CEO said “We’re extremely humbled to be recognised in this very key and prestigious category of Digital Transformation. It represents the significant investment that we have made in this area and the strong team and capability that we have developed. Although one of many very successful Digital Transformation projects competed this year, the Lexel team particularly enjoyed working with the My Food Bag team to achieve a very successful outcome”.
Chris Simpson, Lexel’s founder was personally recognised for his service to the IT industry and invited into the exclusive ‘Hall of Fame’, joining existing Hall of Fame members such as Keith Watson (HP, MD), Darryl Swann (CCL, CEO) and Gary Bigwood (Ingram Micro, MD). Chris Simpson, Lexel’s Founder said “After 30 years in the industry I have achieved many things. Most of all, I have enjoyed working with people, growing them, making them the best they can be and I have particularly enjoyed the opportunity to work alongside my son Noel Simpson, Lexel’s CEO, to grow and build what is today a very successful $60 million dollar business”.

| October 2018 | Lexel Hosts HP DaaS Information Session

On 11th October 2018, Lexel hosted a customer informative session on HP’s new Device as a Service ‘DaaS’, hosted by Lexel and HP at Harbourside Restaurant.
HP’s David Adams discussed the benefits of DaaS over the traditional device procurement and support model and how it tied in nicely with Microsoft’s own new generation desktop licensing and application management offering.
In summary, DaaS offers a more cost effective and flexible solution for customers. The solutions covers the full range of compute devices from tablets through to POS devices and is bundled with analytics that detect device health and workload profile. The agreements are scalable and allow flexing up or down to meet the ever changing needs of the customers’ business.
